Final agreement on Makro-Metro sites in Belgium

Today, LCV Real Estate and its partner Nirmana Real Estate reached a final agreement with Metro Properties Holding on the acquisition of all former Makro and Metro sites in Belgium. The transaction covers the six former Makro sites in Alleur, Deurne, Eke, Lodelinsart, Machelen and Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, as well as the five former Metro sites in Antwerp, Evergem, Namur, Sint-Katelijne-Waver and Wevelgem. These sites occupy excellent locations and offer significant redevelopment potential. Together, the properties comprise more than 750,000 m² of land, including almost 160,000 m² of built area.

LCV Real Estate and Colruyt Group join forces

After previously entering into exclusive discussions with Metro Properties Holding regarding the acquisition of these sites, LCV Real Estate joined forces with Colruyt Group to acquire and redevelop them together. LCV Real Estate’s longstanding expertise in mixed industrial developments, combined with Colruyt Group’s expertise in retail and logistics property, makes this partnership ideally suited to redeveloping all former Makro sites.

The partnership with LCV Real Estate offers valuable opportunities for Colruyt Group. As a large Belgian family business, we have always attached great importance to our real estate activities. Recognising the importance of strong local roots, we have also built considerable expertise in this field. This opportunity therefore represented a unique chance to join forces with another Belgian family business possessing extensive knowledge of property development. Driven by our entrepreneurial spirit, we look forward to working with our partners to give the Makro sites a new future while learning a great deal from one another.
